Thought Bubble: Social Media Backlash of Beauty

There has been a lot of noise on social media based on what it means to call yourself a social media influencer, calling into question what people are choosing to represent. One activist said that people are portraying a picture of unachievable beauty,  creating a materialistic atmosphere showing followers that it only matters if you have numbers behind you but isn’t that what this world is all about? Isn’t this a message that has always been portrayed through centuries?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder- Margaret Wolfe Hungerford (1878)

There has been a lot of noise on social media based on what it means to call yourself a social media influencer, calling into question what people are choosing to represent. One activist said that people are portraying a picture of unachievable beauty,  creating a materialistic atmosphere showing followers that it only matters if you have numbers behind you but isn’t that what this world is all about? Isn’t this a message that has always been portrayed through centuries?

A disclosure, I write the majority of articles as a thinking person that doesn’t have all the answers. I do not write them to solve mankind’s issues or even to give a solution but if we want to get deep and take it all the way back as if it was a Thursday, mankind only raises their head and pays attention if you have numbers. It doesn’t make it particularly right but, if you want to close the deal, then the person with the most zero’s behind the number wins, money/ Numbers talks boo! So in a way, I do not understand why it is such a revelation.

I do get that the voice of the oppressed is becoming louder and there are more avenues to voice and challenge , but, Society has always had a call on what was beautiful or what was the standard benchmark of ‘when you’ve made it.’ Actually, let me rephrase that, society has portrayed what they feel is beautiful through magazine covers and told us what they think we should have through adverts and we have been gullible enough to fashion ourselves after it. That sounds better as we are just as much to blame! We have all at some point been sucked into wanting to follow the fashions of the world. I am not saying that I agree with the fact that people feel pressured to achieve the false reality but society is fake and will always try and manipulate what they feel is perfect. Being in the modelling industry, there has been times where even I felt out of place, as bookers and brands have a say over what they feel is perfect for them and you know what, they are 100 percent entitled- I am the one who put myself into the industry.

For example, I have always been insecure with how much bigger and dis-proportioned my boobs are with the rest of my size 6-8 body. Don’t get me wrong I embrace them  and j’adore  them now! But being on the receiving end to people always looking at them as if you put too much tissue down your bra in compared to your ‘marga’ waist was a lot at times. Especially in my early days of modelling. One time I went for a casting for a well known brand early in my career and I left wanted a breast reduction lol. I remember standing in a adjustable swimsuit , all the models had been given the same style but it legit barely covered a nipple lol compared to the other less endowed girls who it fit perfectly. It was safe to say I did not get the job and remember texting my boyfriend at the time ( who obviously was not in agreement of popping the fun bags lol) upset that my body was not the perfect beautiful size of the other models.

I would say that was a low point of my career as it made me not want to go for jobs afraid that my body wasn’t the ‘norm’. Honestly, if it wasn’t for a good support network and self belief, I think I would have stopped modelling altogether- no lies! To some reading this it may not be a big deal, but body confidence is real and even though I personally wouldn’t want to change a thing about my body anymore, societies ‘standard’ can call your confidence into question. I thus turned to building my Instagram as I felt it was one of the only ways I could have jurisdiction over what I was proud of and make my own opportunities.

Even though I am small fish in the social media pond, I am able  to make my own opportunities and focus on portraying my beauty the way I want to, I have had the opportunity to work with brands and meet people I do not feel I would be able to without the use of social media. I feel that I am able to create my own ‘standard’ and be my own beautiful. Yes, there are people that edit the life from their photos but, 9 times out of 10 they admit it – Photoshop is not a secret anymore and if they do retouch their photos, personally I feel it is there prerogative, we are being just as bad casting judgement on something they post and feel is beautiful to them. I say good on them and there enhanced face tuned bootay!!!

Now is not the time to be tearing each other down about what is right or wrong, I do understand that as influences people are impressionable but my question is, if our little sister, cousin, brother, best friend or whoever is impressionable what are we doing to tell them they are beautiful in there own way, what are we doing to influence our own back yard ? If people in my circle such as friends and family  didn’t install particular views and down to this day challenge my mindset, I would not be as strong minded as I am today to love myself as I am despite things that could have knocked me.

I am not going to lie, I feel proud when I see numbers behind my name as I worked dang hard to get there. It is not the whole focus of my life but it is something I am passionate in sharing that hard work pays off and if a 5’3(and a half), big boobed, tiny waist, curly haired chick like me can influence to love every part of you then long may it last.

Real recognises real xx

Thought bubble: I am unapologetically high maintenance and I don’t think it’s a bad thing

There was an instance where a fella, who already had a decent income I assume got a new job and said exactly this ‘Now I feel like I can look after you’. I mean that’s very sweet and it did make me think good lord shalishah you must be a lot to handle. However, I have always thought to myself why should I settle for less than what I can provide for myself and what I would want to give to others? It may sound superficial- but to me, life is way to short to be thinking of what could of happened or being miserable because I forced myself to be content with something that wasn’t up to what I really want. After all, we will both end up unhappy.

I sit here in bed with my favourite mix of ginger-ale and disaronno(one to write down for those who would want to impress lol) and after a conversation with a particular Mr who will remain anonymous I re-confirm that I am in fact high maintenance. Not that I have never been told this before from previous guys I have dated or that I ever denied it- In fact I am quite proud to bear the title as to me it shows I know what I want.

There was an instance where a fella, who already had a decent income, I assume, got a new job and said exactly this ‘Now I feel like I can look after you’.

Just to clarify to you readers who may think so far reading this that I am somewhat pretentious, I am not meaning it in a full materialistic way I just mean it in a way as to your other half making effort and it lasting longer than the 3-6 months (if your even lucky to get that) honeymoon period. Just being real out here ladies and gents! Which brings me back to this anonymous fella at the beginning. The reason why it triggered such thoughts is because we were talking about needing to unwind and relax to which his perfect situation for us to relax all day in bed, talk about life, have a few bed based activities and then chill for the day- all, may I add, was because of the apparent free parking outside my flat haha.

I mean call me weird or whatever but, even as I type it down, I am like no just no. My reply was ‘ What are we 50?!’ There is absolutely nothing wrong with a day in bed- in fact I probably have days in bed most Saturdays but alone lol and they are perfect. However, my point is firstly, why should you have to plan a day in bed, shouldn’t it just happen ? Secondly, I feel like we have an eternity (if you play your cards right) to be in bloody bed lol. Finally, the only other possibility of a joint bed day is if you are joining me on a heavy weekend ha.

All I am saying is, if we are trying to get to know each other lets says, I don’t want a day in bed where I am probably just going to be left watching you sleep!  I want to go to dinner, be in a romantic atmosphere, splash a little cash on a cutie and we can talk about life. Have a spontaneous road trip or just trip in general. Introduce me to hobbies you like to do, go to the pub and watch the footie together for goodness sake! I am just a massive believer that when you are wanting to get to know someone there needs to be effort on both parts and also a special experience- let’s build some dang memories.

Like, how boring would this be if lets say we had kids and my kids asked me, what sort of things did you and Daddy get up to when you was young and I am like ‘Oh we just used to have loads of cute days in bed’.  No, just no lol what am I a sloth! I am an adventure girl ( Role superhero intro), a guy who is thinking to entertain the thought of being with me needs to want to add to that adventure not put me to bed every 5 mins- I mean one J Holiday is enough. Even my flat mate who has only known me for 4 Months analysed that I am the type of lady who seems spontaneous and would visit a country, fall in love with it and probably move there without a second thought.

I like to live in the moment, and that moment could be pricey or perceived as high maintenance but honestly, I wouldn’t expect anyone to do for me what I can not already do or build up to do for myself or want to give back to them. So, my intelligent readers, do not settle of less, maybe staying in bed for an eternity with a hot guy/girl is your cup of tea but think, how will you feel looking back at it – make those memories last and fulfilling, be high-maintenance 😉

R&R Luxury Travel Kit Review

Let me guess, your social media feed is now full of poolside pictures, cidres in the park, people going out more and wearing less ( amen to drake) and the excitement of finally going on that holiday you booked 5 months ago ! Yes summer is here finally and R&R luxury have launched their first travel kit perfect for your skin not only just for summer but for all seasons if you ask me.

About R&R Luxury

Founded by Beauty Entrepreneur Valerie Obaze in 2010, R&R is a luxury beauty brand is founded on the philosophy of transforming one of nature’s purest and richest gifts – Shea – into the most enriching beauty products. This ingredients of this pure and natural brand is beneficial for the whole family men, women and children.

What’s inside the travel kit ?

Within this simplisticcanvas bag are all you really need for your skin when travelling

  • Shea oil (Serenity)
  • Liquid black soap cleanser
  • Shea lip butter

How long does it last ?

I received this travel kit a month ago and still have product left over which I feel could probably last me another month or so. This is based on me using the Shea oil and liquid black soap twice a day and the lip butter as a base before lip gloss application which honestly only God knows how often I do that lol. But overall I would definitely say it is amazing value for money !

How do I use each product?

  • Shea oil– R&R Luxury recommend using this multipurpose oil after a bath or shower, mixing with Everyday cream whilst skin is still wet to help with scarring, dry skin, soothe skin burn and also sensitive skin. Personally I used a small amount (1 pump) on my face after cleansing with the liquid black soap. The results where instant and found a difference to the hydration in my skin within days
  • Liquid Black soap- This too can be used for both face and body which is what I love about natural skincare products. I can safely say my face ( which is usually very sensitive) responded extremely well to this product and did notice a natural glow.
  • Shea Lip Butter- As recommended by R&R themselves, apply as often as you want for kissable lips !

How much is it ?

£12.00 which when compared to the products you receive, how long they last for and other travel kits on the market- it is great value for money!

Where can I buy this product?

Online at https://www.randrluxury.co.uk

Do I need this ?

Yes you do ! If you are prone to having dry/sensitive skin, prone to flaring up at the wrong time and instead want confidence in knowing that your skin will be looking flawless all summer long then the R&R travel kit/ range is for you!

Happy travels !xx

Clear+ Nourish Mousse

Honestly Guys I am not always a big fan of Mousse’s as sometimes I find that they can leave my hair feeling crispy and makes it super hard to wash out the next day, however this was not the case. Instead of leaving my hair crispy and lifeless it helped to tame my hair still leaving it soft and full of movement.

How to you use it?

Twisted Sista recommends using this product on clean towel dried hair. Scrunch product into the ends of your hair and lifting towards the roots of the hair. You can also re-apply this product which I would recommend as it guards against frizz and humidity- hello summer !

What’s In it?

Aqua (Water), Cocamidopropylamine Oxide, Polyquaternium-7, Polyquaternium-11, Polyquaternium-10, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Alkyl Polyglucoside, Polyurethane-14, Amp-Acrylates Copolymer, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Hexylene Glycol , Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Hexapeptide-11, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharinum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Superoxide Dismutase , Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Seed Extract, Visnaga Vera Fruit / Stem Extract, Hippophaë Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Peel Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Parfum (Parfum), Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Limonene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glycereth-2-Cocoate, Citric Acid

Is it Kind to my pocket?

The same price as the Shampoo and Conditioner – £10.99.

Clear + Nourish Hydration Curl Gel

How to you use ?

As directed, this moisturising, non sticky gel can be used to keep your curls feeling hydrated, defined and soft allll day long ( and I mean all day). Again like the fair of using mouse, some gels I have used in previous years for curls have left my hair feeling like paper! However, the Clear + Nourish Gel is truly hydrating and leaves your hair still feeling fluffy but manageable. I would mostly use this gel to create and hold a ringlet style in my hair and is great to use before diffusing your curls.  Twisted Sista also recommend washing hair after 2 days after using product to avoid product build up and limp styling. Take note ladies!

What’s in it?

Aqua (Water) Sorbitol, Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylate Copolymer, PVP, Aminomethyl Propanol, Glycerin, Polysorbate-20, Carbomer, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Hexylene Glycol , Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Hexapeptide-11, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharinum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Superoxide Dismutase , Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Seed Extract, Visnaga Vera Fruit / Stem Extract, Hippophaë Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Garcinia Mangostana Peel (Mangosteen) Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glycereth-2-Cocoate, Sodium Chloride, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Limonene, Parfum (Paqfum), Disodium EDTA.

Twisted Sista Curl Perfection Creme Gel

By far my favourite product of the range! I just literally believe this product was made for my hair and understands my curl pattern amazingly well! I call it my genie in a bottle lol. This product smells amazing too and received many compliments on my curls when using.

How to you use?

This product includes a curls form memory technology which holds moisture into your curls for up to 24 hours. Apply this product from root to tip on wet hair and can also be combined with the Twisted Sista Gel to seal in extra moisture and create more definition to your curl. Personally I also use this on dry hair daily as lets keep it real, I do not always have time to wet my hair daily especially in the winter. I found this product to be just as effective on my hair when it was dry and revived my hair to perfection.

What’s in it?

Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, PVP, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Parfum (Fragrance), Polyimide-1, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dimethicone, Persea Gratissima, (Avocado) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Diazolidinyl Urea, Phenoxyethanol, BHT, Disodium EDTA, Limonene, Coumarin, Panthenol, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Linalool, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Silk Amino Acids, Sodium Hyaluronate

Is it Kind to My Pocket?

This product is priced at £5.89 which I would say is an average price to pay for curl specific hair products.

Overall ?

I love this range- if you couldn’t tell. The fact that it is a british homegrown brand makes it even better and can tell that a lot of thought went into the creation of these products. I am really happy that Twisted Sista has revamped their packaging as not only is it eye capturing, I only feel that it nicely reflects the ethos of the Clear + Nourish range.

Do you need it?

I will always recommend shopping around as every curl type is different but yaas gurl you need it ha! You could possibly live without buying both gel and mousse as even though they play to different strengths of your hair I do believe that the outcomes are very similar! Definitely would recommend you testing out the whole range and re buying the products that made your hair feel amazing.

This range is available online or in store in Super drug and also on the Twisted Sista Website.

Stay Beautiful! xx

Skincare Review: Skin Kissed Facial Serum

Lets face it, any one of us who believes they can cake over their imperfection in the heat of summer with the best foundations, concealers and the works have obviously not been in the heat all I am saying is sweat! It is time to let those pores breathe a little and the only way we can is making sure our skin is perfect from now is by using skin kind products such as Skin Kissed Vitamin C Serum.

I was sent this product two weeks ago and already can see and feel a difference as, my face is smoother, less prone to drying out and dewy.

What’s in it?

Aqua ( water), rosa damascene (rose water) vitamin c (ascorbic acid) glycerine hyaluronic acid, Phenoxyethanol, marine collagen (fish) those are the ingredients.

Is this Vitamin Skincare Product Cruelty-free?

Yes! According to this animal loving brand this product has “never come close to an animal”.

Possibly acne/allergy/troubling for some ingredients?

Although it’s obviously possible to be allergic to anything, I personally did not experience any side effects from using this product.

How do you use it?

Skin Kissed suggests using this product twice daily for maximum results even though results vary according to skin type. I personally would apply the serum in the morning just before applying my makeup. I found this super effective as it made my makeup glow and also helped my skin stay hydrated throughout the day. Additionally I would then use this serum after cleansing my face as part of my night time routine.

How much is it? /Size/Approximate cost per usage?
£29.95 for 20ml. How long it lasts depends entirely on how dehydrated you are and how regularly you use it. If you’re using it twice a day, you should be good for about a month. This serum is high-end in its price range however Skin Kissed do not use any cheap chemicals or useless oils and their formula is natural with high percentages of active ingredients, which does justify the amount spent for fast results.

How’s the distribution? Available freely or limited?
At present this product can be found online at https://skinkissed.co/ but does ship worldwide.

IMG_6549

What’s good about it?
Does what it says on the packet which is enhancing the quality of your skin. This truly water-based formula can be used as a moisturiser for acneic or combo skins or a serum under a slightly heavier cream for really dry or dehydrated skins. I see evidence of making skin ‘illuminating’ which is a major summer plus!

What’s not so good about it?
In compared to other serums I have used in the past it is not cheap.  Although  it can be used on it’s own, I personally would only recommend using this on its own if your skin is very oily .

Do you need it?
If you are looking to add a serum into your daily skin routine (which you totally should be), I would recommend as the results are obvious and even though not as affordable as other serums in the market, it will be a treat for your skin!

Thought Bubble: Life changes you

Life experiences change you.  Not that it is meant to be some sort of mind blowing revelation but, I was looking through some old pictures that I saved on some random memory stick which was full of cute cuddly family moments and genuine smiles with ex-besties, boyfriends and the works- which are now deleted for extra storage lol. I couldn’t resist flicking through those pictures and thinking my goodness how much things have changed, how much I have changed.

I even find myself telling people at times that I was a really good person, not that I’m not anymore ha, but I mean I was a REALLY good person sweet as pie. Don’t get me wrong she is still there somewhere, but she buried and locked away inside a hard shell so that I don’t feel vulnerable to peoples tricks. I feel like I have become somewhat Icy and savage as we now call it in compared to that sweet, ignorant girl of 18 years old in those pictures. Life has changed me.

There are times where I wish I could forget about memories or situations which made me less trusting and more cautious, after all, she’s still there inside me and does come out from time to time but it is just the simple truth that life and the experiences that come with it, especially in this world, sucks out any innocence you possibly may have wanted to hold on to and forces you to question everything or only let few people get close to you.

By no means am I complaining, but I can say that even though like many other of you readers, some experiences are bloody tough to swallow is does make you wiser and stronger.

Lets stay true to us even if its different to what we originally thought our lives would look like.

Thought Bubble: I expect too much from Men…

There is probably some experienced women out there who may stumble across the title of this blog and say ” Well honey, I could of told you that for free” but, no matter how much history replays itself, we always seem to get ourselves into the same pickle – so much for evolution ey!

My issue is this, I get myself into a great and solo stage where I am at my peak, I am happy, not reporting to any one, no significant over and I have reached the stage of contentment in self love and all that. Then bang, here comes someone who you think understands you, gets where your coming from and suddenly I am feeling like I need them to be there for me. Like WTH… I was just fine ten seconds before you came and all of a sudden when they have typically lost interest in whatever the hell they must have found vaguely interesting, has disappeared like Cinderella’s ball gown after 12 ‘o’ clock.

This is not to be confused for one of those ” All men are trash” rants ( I am saving that for next week ha) but, this is a confession that as soon as I find what I believe might be a good guy I find myself giving life and caring but maybe the trick is to not expect the same thing back, not expect him to be my prince Eric from little mermaid (Sorry for the Disney references lol), but realise that things cool off and what might be right for now may not be right forever and not to expect they will always understand the sacrifice and loyalty you are trying to show.

Miscommunication is a bugger and although I long for a guy who can be consistent, all these experiences make it much more harder for the next guy as I become more closed off (sucks I know). But, as they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and as long as you know what you expect from yourself and focus on when you are most happiest, I guess we will find the prince charming that would like to fit around us and meet us in the middle for a change.

In the words of my Guyanese Grandma “Every Mouldy biscuit gat he  vum vum cheese” or in other words, there is someone for everyone xx

Thought Bubble: When The Going Gets Tough…

All I’m saying is, if the last couple of months of my life were televised it would probably be on par with Eastenders and popular on netflix- DRAMA! My phone was stolen, I was in a car accident and now have no car, I am in the process of moving out for the first time and am kind of excited but apprehensive and unlike my last blog- I have actually been giving the whole dating thang a go but feel like I must still not be doing something right or maybe I am – lord knows!

Don’t get me wrong I know there are much more serious things going on in the world and when put in perspective I will get over this very long blip but, it’s like can something just go right for once! I do a good job of covering things over and acting like I am okay with life just not going to plan (she says after finishing her 3rd box of Kleenex ha) but life is tough!

So, what do we do? Honestly, each situation is different and what one person might find an absolute mountain another person could view it as a piece of cake but, it is okay to feel like you can’t handle it. No matter how Superhuman or Goddess-like we may look, we are only human and life is bound to get on top of us. Take a step back and re-evaluate your options to work around the situation or if its something that can’t be overlooked build your inner self to work through it. You got this!

I have also made it a task to set new goals to help me re-focus on something more positive rather than things that may not be going particularly great. A perfect way to build a more positive mind. Start small and realistic and build on them believing that even if it does get sticky like honey it will taste sweet in the end!

Chins up Puddings xx

Planning your Perfect Night Out 🍸

Let’s face it we have all been there, the moment when we need to let our hair down have an amazing time with the gals or guys (or both – no judgement ha) but don’t know where is good to go. Have no fear! I am here.

Start At :

Don’t get me wrong you can never beat pre-drinks at your house but lets face it, sometimes that means you do not leave the house. So to solve that problem :

  • Tequila Mocking Bird (Clapham Junction): This little beauty is a new favourite of mine. Cocktails are amazinggg! and are presented Instagram worthy. TMB grace our pallets and pockets with 2 for 1 cocktails which are both delicious and sophisticated. My personal favourite is “Disney Princess” as not only doesthe title fit my obvious alter ego (I wish) but the combo of candy floss and vodka is a mix of perfection.
  • Radio Rooftop Bar (ME Strand): When you are wanting to start of your nights with a touch of Class, Radio offers you just that. Giving you panoramic views over London, cosy outside chairs and fire lamps as well as inside modern decor this bar aims to please. Cocktails are classic with a wide variety and is accompanied by a tasteful live DJ.
  • Sketch Bar ( Mayfair): Even though Sketch is known for its restaurant and weird Egg shaped toilets (for those who have been there!). This place definitely caters for your imagination and embraces the creativity of London. On site there are 4 bars so be sure to look around before you fall in love with one room. Cocktails vary according to what bar you choose but, is a certified and must visit place whatever the occasion.

Time to Shake a Leg..

Providing you have survived the pre-drinks you may find it is time for you to let off some steam on the dance floor – a personal favourite pass time of mine!

  • Market Place (Oxford circus) : Many surprisingly do not know that Market Place is actually home to one of THE best basement clubs I have been to so far. One of the few places where the bouncers now know my name. Anyway, Market Place offers a great haven for old school r’n’b and urban classics mixed with a reasonable priced bar. My recommendation would be to go on Fridays as for me that is when the vibe is at it’s best!

    Snapseed (22)
    Disney Princess Cocktail
  • Faces ( Essex): I mean I literally do love this place and have had some of my best nights here. Not only are you graced with the probability of casually bumping into celebs/reality TV stars but Faces offer great deals such as Bottomless Prosecco on Saturdays and my personal favourite- Ladies night on Friday (wooop free entry).  Music is varied and caters to all, drinks are very reasonably priced and is definitely a safe place for wearing that new bandage dress that has been too overdressed for anywhere else! Lad’s umm you can wear that shirt you wanted to wear out too?
  • Bonbonniere (Wardour Street):  This club may have relocated but has definitely not lost its electric Charm. This high-end club is a guaranteed great night out with current music and classics played the atmosphere is magnetic, accompanied with tasteful, fun and grand decor you will be obsessed. The club regularly has events running is is a MUST.

FOOD !

I mean yes, getting your Uber driver to drive through a 24 hour McDonald’s and order a medium nugget meal is kind of a must after you’ve worked so hard on that dance floor. But my lovelies there is alternatives such as :

  • VQ: This 24 hour restaurant sent from heaven is brilliant for satisfying those alcohol drenched taste buds. Located in Chelsea and Soho, you can opt for pastas, all day breakfast and burgers. Literally diners delight. Be warned however, this is a popular spot so it might feel like you are queuing for club entry again, but when you get there it is totally worth it!

Enjoy your next Night’s out and make sure you party and drink responsibly 😉 xxx

Shalishah Loves❤: Joe’s Southern Table and Bar

As a self professed lover of all things smothered in cheese  and fried with breadcrumbs, Joe’s Southern Table and Bar is literally home for me. This restaurant is guaranteed love at first bite!

What’s on the Menu?

Dang Good food! I am just going to jump in and say Joe’s hands down serves the best Mac’n’ Cheese I have ever tasted!! Like EVER! I mean not only is it presented like a tempting bowl of heaven, but the taste is second to none. The christening of breadcrumbs on top gives it a beautiful texture and is definitely a filling tasty side.

Trying to not neglect the rest of the menu, Joe’s also perform with their chicken wings and boneless bites, topped with a variety of sauces such as traditional BBQ and Tabasco Honey which are finger lick’n goood!

If you are wanting to get a real taste of america, Joe’s have you covered with their delicious southern classics, including New Orleans Vegetable Gumbo and BBQ Beef Short ribs.

Cocktail O’clock…

Another of my many reasons I like to sit at Joe’s Table is because of their perfectly blended Cocktails! There is so much to choose from, but of course I will guide you through this wilderness!

Joe’s Popcorn Cup

Advised for two people, but who wants to share (kidding …. or am I). Any way this cocktail is perfect for those with a sweet tooth as it includes coconut rum, popcorn (duh) and Vanilla ice cream- as I said, who wants to share!

Watermelon Martini

A beautiful twist on a classic. In reality is what I always order when I come as it has the paradisiac mix of sweetness and alcohol tang ,perfectly  aided by the combination of red vodka, watermelon and lime.

So Folks! Make sure you check out Joe’s Southern Kitchen in Covent Garden you will leave full and happy, I promise!

When In Manchester … 💛

Stay at…

Innside Manchester: Definitely one of my favourite hotels I have stayed at so far in Manchester. Rooms are tastefully decorated with a very modern edge. The Innside comes with a fully equip spa and gym. In terms of location  it is only a 5-10 minute taxi ride to some of the main sights in Manchester.Snapseed (16)

Other Hotels to consider : Double Tree by Hilton, MacDonald Manchester, Premier Inn (Deans gate)

Eat at…

Rosso Restaurant: When you walk into this restaurant it is almost like walking into a majestic Italian courtyard luxuriously vanished with white and marble walls. Now I have wet your appetite with this beautiful scene, lets move onto food! Fresh, Fancy and Full of flavour! The menu presents a flavoursome twist to authentic Italian dishes.

Tattu: One of my favourite restaurants people, it is a must to eat at! Food is delish! Ranging from the tastiest chilli fried egg rice to succulent ribs. Cocktails are insta ready and is the perfect venue for celebrating. One of the beauties of this restaurant is the inside Cherry tree which graces the dining area and glows at night. Combine this with the best food ever and its romance in an enchanted Japanese garden.

Party at…

Club Liv: This venue does require guest list entry usually £10 at the door. Drinks are reasonably priced (definitely in compared to London prices) and options of buying a table is available. Music caters for those old school, grime, house, dance hall and chart music lovers. I would recommend as it is a guaranteed great night out!

Other choices: Neighbourhood, Tiger tiger (on very selected days), Revolutions

Getting around..

Uber Uber everyyyywheerre! take it from me, Uber is easiest if you have access to the app. Most trips cost £3-5.00 to get into the city and places to eat. There are of course buses, taxi’s and the tram link. Trams are very easy to navigate and is perfect if you are wanting to take a trip to watch the football ( united all the way!).

Vlog to follow soon!

How to have the best time in Marrakesh

After being in desperate need of some winter sun, the vibrant city of Marrakesh came under my radar and with raving reviews from friends, I was eager to see what this gem within Morocco had to offer!

After being in desperate need of some winter sun, the vibrant city of Marrakesh came under my radar and with raving reviews from friends, I was eager to see what this gem within Morocco had to offer! 3 hours on a fully booked flight, led me and my best gal pal/ travel buddy to a memorable and exciting holiday and here is a few highlights and tips so you can have the best time in Marrakesh!

IMG_1424.jpg

Embrace the culture & Get your Hustle on!

Picture this; the golden sun beating down on you whilst you sit and enjoy the freshest mint Moroccan tea at a near by cafe on the corner of the town square, serenity whilst overlooking the hustle of the Medina. Yes- it is a must that you visit the souk markets of the Medina Old town as it is definitely what adds to the character of Marrakesh. With an array of spices- for those budding chefs out there, textiles, pottery and sweet, refreshing Moroccan Tea it is no wonder why many flock to share in the hustle. Whilst I was meandering through the market, I found the people to be friendly and helpful.  Some stalls are selling similar if not the same product so it is important that you bargain a good price. The Medina is a great place also to buy original memorabilia and jewellery which trust me will make a way better gift then the cliche “My friend went to Marrakesh and got me this Mug”.

Snapseed (12)
Receiving Henna at the Medina Markets

Tip: When visiting the market make sure you have a good idea on how much you are wanting to spend so you can whittle them down to the best price.

What to wear: Obviously every outfit is weather dependant however, I would say ladies cover up! I found it a much more comfortable walk through the market wearing an outfit which was stylish but not too revealing.

For those in need of Adventure:

As a self confessed adrenaline junkie I looked for ways to combine this need with also seeing the beautiful scenery of Marrakesh and out popped Quad biking in the desert. I had so much fun! We booked this package from the hotel which on hindsight would have been cheaper online. However, it allowed us to get transfers to and from the hotel.

We quad biked for 2 hours around the desert, making a stop of in the mountains. On the way back to base, the sunset crept up upon us making it a perfect finish to our quad biking experience. This is definitely value for money and no fear to those less experience quad bikers, there is a guide on hand and the bikes are automatic.

img_0342.jpg

Tip: As stated you will save your money if you book online! For example the price we paid for Quad biking via the hotel we could of paid online for both the Quad bikes and Camels.  What can I say.. I make these mistakes so you don’t have too!

The Freaks come out at night:

Admittedly we did spend some of our nights in our hotel making good use of the all inclusive bar and good ol’ hotel entertainment, but, when we did go out we had the best time! Marrakesh is home to what has been labelled as the ‘Best Club in Africa’ and although I have not been to other clubs in Africa to compare, I would definitely say they know how to host a good party.

Clubs in Marrakesh usually start at 11/12 and end at 5 pm. They offer a variety of themed nights throughout the week such as Hip hop and R&B and also my personal favourite… LADIES NIGHT. I mean, ladies I am talking free entry and free drinks for the whole night. The only catch is, that you have to be unaccompanied by a male to get the deal-which for me was no problem ha! For those unfortunate men who will need to pay or on normal nights, there is a 200 Dirham, the equivalent of £20 but this too comes with a free drink in some cases. The standard of clubs are like London’s Libertine, Cirque or Toyroom. The two clubs we visited were called Theatro and 555. Other places which I would recommend are: Buddha Bar, Le Comptoir, Lotus and Le Palace Marrakesh where you can enjoy great cocktails, food and traditional Belly Dancing.

What to wear: Dress as if you was at home

Tip: If you establish a good relationship with a Taxi driver during your stay, arrange for them to either wait for you or arrange for them to pick you up after your night out of town. This usually cost 200 Dirham each way.

Quick Tip Medley:

  • When arriving at the airport the hustle begins! Do not let that beautiful weather woo you off guard and do not pay more then 200 Dirham for a journey less then 30 mins to your hotel
  • New Town brings a more modern vibe to Marrakesh as you will find Mcds, KFC, Zara and H&M as well as many other shops within their shopping centres and promenades. There is also a YSL cinema which is recommended for all fellow fashionistas out there.
  • The weather can be very stunning during the day but drops considerably at night! So do be sure to bring a light jacket or coat depending on the time of year.
  • From experience it is definitely best to bring pounds and then convert your money out there. We found we received a better rate through changing our cash at the Hotel rather then withdrawing money via a Cash point.

I hope you enjoyed and if you are planning to visit Marrakesh have an amazing time!

I just love this place! The food, the atmosphere, the decor, everything screams YES! If you a planning a trip to Marrakesh then lovely people, Le Palace Marrakesh is a must!

Food:

Divine! As a self professed foodie Le Palace Marrakesh ticks all the boxes and easily is the best restaurant in town. Specialising in fine European cuisine your taste bud’s will be tantalised by the expansive choice of food on the menu which includes mouth-watering personal favourites of  Lobster, Lamb shank and Apple Tart cooked to perfection. Accompanied with a glass of white wine (or beverage of your choice) you will definitely have something to celebrate.

Atmosphere:

All I can say is when I sat down I was already planning my marriage proposal – it may be 1000 years till that happens! However, Le Palace candle lit table’s create a cosy but very romantic environment to indulge in fine food and have an enjoyable night.  You can either choose to dine upstairs, which carries a Mod- period vibe with floor mosaic tiles and cosy leather seats or indulge in red luxury downstairs which I nicknamed the ‘red palace’.  With its dim lighting and mirrored walls you definitely feel like royalty as you read from their smartly designed LED menus its perfect! Le Palace Marrakesh live by the motto of “first  we eat.. then we dance” which I feel they perfectly embody as whilst dining, you are blessed with the sultry tones of a live singer and DJ.

Staff are attentive and know the menu well as they honestly give the best suggestions. Overall, Le Palace Marrakesh lived up to its name and I will definitely be visiting again without a doubt! If you are looking for full-flavoured food, beautiful atmosphere to enjoy with a loved one or friends and excellent service then Le Palace is the place for you!

Shalishah Loves❤ : Crust Bros Pizza

It was after a couple cocktails that I stumbled across this little beauty, in need of something substantial and preferably doughy to get me through the rest of the night!

It was after a couple cocktails that I stumbled across this little beauty, in need of something substantial and preferably doughy to get me through the rest of the night!

This Neapolitan-style  Pizzeria based in Waterloo caters perfectly not just for those pre/post night out cravings but also makes it a brilliant healthy option for those everyday cravings. Sticking to tradition, Crust Bros pizza is cooked in a traditional wood fire oven and topped with fresh combos such as Mozzarella, Sun dried Tomato’s, Spicy Salami and Sweet Peppers ( My personal favourite!).

Snapseed (8)

You can either choose a Pizza from their quirky named menu  or be creative and design your own- this would allow you to choose from the wide variety of toppings and cheeses which also includes a Vegan option. All Pizza’s are prepared freshly in front of you taking around 15 minutes to cook and prepare.

Snapseed (10)

If you are looking for a Pizza place  that doesn’t leave you with that guilty feeling or unforgiving belly bloat, then I do recommend Crust Bros- It will be love at first Bite ;).

Feeling Lazy or Anti?

We all get those days – Trust me! But do not worry, Crust Bros also delivers via DeliverRoo and provides a takeaway service, served in tastefully decorated leopard print boxes!

Snapseed (9)

How I Rate it ?(Out of 10)

  • Menu : 7 – Wide variety and you can not complain if you are able to make your own pizza.
  • Taste: 7 – Very Fresh and just so Yum!
  • Atmosphere : Cosy – Seating is available but on busy days you will feel like one big pizza eating family which, is not necessarily a bad thing.
  • Location 8 – Opposite the station and easy to get to.

Ones to Watch: Tress Clothing

This homegrown collection oozes the classic modern man. Manufactured in West London, Tress Clothing combines simplicity with Style.

Tress Clothing designer Stephen Skeete is living proof that if you put your mind to something you will succeed- Hard work pays off! Snapseed (6)

This homegrown collection oozes the classic modern man. Manufactured in West London, Tress Clothing combines simplicity with style. Skeete’s easy to pair pieces consists of textured t-shirts, contemporary bomber jackets and modish tracksuits. Skeete discreetly  imprints his logo onto his clothing allowing each piece to tell its own story.

7516775536_IMG_24177516775536_IMG_2418 The material used  also gives a sense of longevity specially handpicked by the designer himself.  My personal favourite is the suede bomber jacket in black which I believe can create such a versatile look, either paired with a basic t-shirt (Tress of course) or a shirt- lets just say if I was on a date and my man rocked up with that, I would definitely say he was a man with style!

Tress’s Menswear Collection launches in February 2018 and will be available to pre-order, so make sure you do not miss out!

Shalishah Loves ❤: Mercato Metropolitano (London)

Trust me when I say if you haven’t visited Mercato Metropolitano (MM) already then plans are needing to be made! Based in Elephant and Castle, this vibrant space allows you to satisfy every craving imaginable from foods around the world.

Dear Fellow Foodies!

Trust me when I say if you haven’t visited Mercato Metropolitano (MM) already then plans are needing to be made! Based in Elephant and Castle, this vibrant space allows you to satisfy every craving imaginable from foods around the world.img_8543.jpg

Highs:

  • Variety: I’d say it is the perfect place to go when your stuck with people who either never know what they want or inconveniently never want what you want- yes we’ve all been there! MM leaves no room for the difficult eater as you can help yourself to Vietnamese, Mexican, Steak and Soul food just to name a few.
  • Atmosphere: There is a definite buzz from the moment you step through those large black doors. You are first met by a pebbled garden where if the English weather is kind, you can enjoy your food of choice and a glass of wine on benches or soft chairs outside. Inside, the MM embraces the food market vibe as sweet aromas greet you and seating is readily available. You can try before you buy your food and wine which adds to the hospitable nature of the venue. IMG_7141
  • Food: Fresh! The MM brands itself on the basic principles being; ‘ small is beautiful’ and  ‘natural is good’ which I feel it embraces perfectly as they focus on what the individual wants. Food is sauced from small scale farmers and then prepared freshly in front of you making it that but sweeter, knowing that your helping to give back. The complex has an onsite bakery, coffee roasters, pizza chefs and gives you the opportunity to learn about food and how to cook like a pro! IMG_2147
  • Drink: After a long week at work its only right that we reward ourselves modestly and the MM aids this process. Housing a large selection of Italian wines with staff on job to help you pick, I have not tasted a bad wine yet! For those non wine lovers, all is not lost as there is a German beer bar and also an outside cocktail bar which would be criminal to miss!

IMG_2142

Overall, the MM is a perfect place to as it caters to everyone’s needs, as the options are endless.  The food is fresh and presentation is definitely insta worthy #FoodIsBae. It is a guaranteed good time out with friends or family and you will leave feeling satisfied.

Shalishah Loves:

Take a trip to the ‘Slow Smoked BBQ’ stand and try there pulled pork fully loaded fries. Tastes even better then it looks.

Shalishah Loves❤: Tonight Josephine

I have officially branded Tonight Josephine’s the cutest cocktail bar in town and here’s why

I have officially branded Tonight Josephine’s the cutest cocktail bar in town and here’s why:

Yaass Josephine:

  • It Looks Amazing: If your a lover of all things fabulous, then this has your name all over it! Josephine’s is stylishly kitted out with neon slogans, mirrored ceilings and snazzy interior. All I can say, is if Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn were still alive, they would approve.

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

  • Josephine’s Cocktails slay: For starters, Prosseco is 2 for 1- I know, hSnapseed (1)ow perfect! Happy hour runs from 5-7 every single day of the week on all cocktails and boy! do the bar tenders know how to mix and good one. My personal favourite of the night had to be the ‘Flaming zombie’ which consists of Bacardi rum, triple sec, passion fruit, pineapple and topped with of course- fire.
  • Atmosphere: Josephine definitely caters for every type of women with a variety of well known songs setting the mood in the background, it is every bit of a women’s paradise. However, the crowd is very mixed with men and women. Where the guys present must have secretly love the quirky girl power nature of the bar or they’re smart and know where to find the ladies! Either way all enjoy the vibrant night that ‘Tonight Josephine’ offers.

The Debbie Downer 💔

This is by no means something that can be helped by a Bar tucked away in a basement however there isn’t a lot of space! Tables are available to book either online or by calling the venue (which I suggest you do well in advance) but there are not a lot of tables and if you haven’t been lucky enough to sit like loyalty, then you are left walking around trying to perch on the any space you can find. This does not take away from the class of the venue as it does make it intimate and brings a sense of ‘girls night in’ (with a bunch of additional strangers) that is very manageable! I do hope in the future ‘Tonight Josephine’ is able to expand like it’s famous Brother ‘Adventure bar’ and is able to have bigger venue. That would be an icing to an already brilliant cake!

Shalishah Loves❤️: The Diner (Shoreditch)

Located in the heart of Shoreditch, ‘The Diner’ provides a taste of America without having the hassle of a 8 to 10 hour flight!

IMG_7692

Located in the heart of Shoreditch, ‘The Diner’ provides a taste of America without having the hassle of a 8 to 10 hour flight!

Whats on the Menu?

A lot! The Diner caters to every sort of craving, from my personal favourite,  All day breakfast which, consists of fluffy  Pancakes with maple syrup (of course), Vegan Benedict & if your super hungry the Lumberjack Breakfast which includes Eggs, pancakes, bacon, syrup and whipped honey butter. Also on the menu are classic Burgers, Hot Dogs and if your feeling  healthy -Salad.

However, what really makes ‘The Diners’ menu stand out is the Blue Plates or what I interpret to be their authentic American dishes and Boy!they are DELICIOUS 😋. Tempting you with mouthwatering MAC & Cheese, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and St.Louis Baby Back Ribs .

To wash it down ‘The Diner’ provides a variety of drinks from your usual standard soft drinks, Beers, Hot drinks and Cocktails to Milkshakes and my personal favourite- Hardshakes! If you are a little baffled by this, hardshakes are basically Milkshakes for Adults, adding that much needed alcohol to a classic milkshake makes it irresistible!7516775616_IMG_2046

Recommendations:

  • Blue berry Pancakes: I am a massive pancake critic simply because I love them so much and know what the perfect pancake should taste like (to me). ‘The Diner’ deliver this perfection with its fluffy texture, sweet balance and the ability to take me back to San Francisco where I first tried blubbery pancakes. All the pancake choices are amazing and if in limbo on what to choose staff are usually pretty happy to mix and match for you !
  • Buttermilk Fried Chicken: Even writing about it makes me hungry! This plate of food is the perfect combination of sweet and savoury and I know many do not understand how chicken and waffles go together but people.. It just does! Waffles taste amazing, iHop lovers eat your heart out. Chicken is seasoned and juicy and when smothered in Bacon Gravy you have yourself a little piece of heaven. You can thank me later!
  • The Kraken ( HardShake): Basically  banana milkshake with so much more star power. I must admit it is a bit on the sweet side but the balance of the Kraken Rum makes it a easy shake to sip and Enjoy!

Overall…

A great place for having a temporary but satisfying taste of America. Staff are very friendly and menu is reasonably priced

Thought Bubble: Go and Find Yourself …

You may read this and feel like duh! Shalishah you’re kind of making it this way, which is true – but I feel like I am going through a period where I need to find myself again, or maybe I never did find my true self in the first place? Life experiences shape you.

I feel Alone! So bizarre- Not that I don’t have people around me but, I am sure I can not be the only person to feel alone in a room full of people. I do not want pity, that is not why I have exposed such feelings, I look at it as a transitional period.

I mean for example, I have probably cut and bruised any guy who has tried to show me love or attention recently (not in a physical way) but, in a way that I am fed up of relationships. I vowed a million times over that I would never turn into one of those bitter ladies however, sadly I am a certified member lol! In a nutshell, I have become selfish with my time and want to focus on me and when a guy comes into my life and decides to do the right thing by, giving me extra attention and wants to spend more time with me- I run away and retreat and act like a cow so they give up. Call it a defence method or whatever the hell I am doing, I am just presently no longer a lover or love and sometimes it does kill me as I was never like that!

Then there’s life ambitions, that’s changed to. I’ve seemed to have embarked on some random journey for one which involves; travelling, money saving (a bit of a contradiction with the travelling I know lol) and mainly thinking about what I want out of life first and it does feel quite lonely. You may read this and feel like duh! Shalishah you’re kind of making it this way, which is true – but I feel like I am going through a period where I need to find myself again, or maybe I never did find my true self in the first place? Life experiences shape you.

Anyway, this blog post is for all the ladies and gentlemen out there who have had rubbish thrown in their faces, their eyes opened and now just need A LOT of self Loving, I feel you! Go and find yourself again !

Review: Champneys Forrest Mere

Probably to date one of the best spas I have been to! The forest decor elements  really created a retreat vibe and made you feel at home . There was enough space to sit down and as a solo spa goer I did not feel intimidated to go around and try, however, my highlight would have to be the water beds situated behind a glass sound proof door, laying on a fur blanket and putting the world to right whilst looking at this seasons must haves and listening to the grateful album of DJ Khaled- perfect!

After a month of stress, I thought a quite, solo, spa retreat was exactly what a girl needed to clear her head and after work colleagues and family friends raved about Champneys, I decided to give it a try in my hour of need!

Location:I will not lie to you reader and say that as I was driving through the Liphook forest, I was 100% convinced that my Google Maps knew where it was going. However, as I hesitantly followed its direction I saw a reassuring sign saying “relaxation this way”. From that moment on wards it was as if I had been teleported into another world- (Put down those harribo’s shalishah your not in Kansas anymore, kind of moment).

Champneys Forest Mere is situated on a hill overlooking the lake and surrounded by an abundance of cheerful greenery.

Overall: TheIMG_0228 Champneys is well situated with beautiful scenery and is well sign posted.

Arrival: Champneys staff was very accommodating allowing me to check in early as my massage was booked for 9:00am ( note to readers do not book last minute otherwise you be left with the ungodly hour time slots, like me). However, with the cost on £24 extra (which also included lunch) I was able to leave my bags behind the desk and use the facilities, my room however would still not be ready until 14:30. I was given a complimentary robe and flip flops(to keep) and a tour around Champneys.

Overall: Staff were very accommodating,  they made me feel welcome and answered any questions I had. I do wish I could have checked in earlier then 14:30 which I understand was available on a VIP package (I haven’t made it there yet) but, with all the facilities on offer time goes very quickly.

The Massage: Being a person willing to try new unfamiliar things, I decided to be adventurous and try something other then your usual deep tissue massage and opt for a Reiki Massage. This promised me a soothed mind, calmed emotions and recharged batteries which, in my head said tick, tick, tick. My masseuse was called Fiona- she was lovely!Fiona was able to explain to me areas of my body which had the most tension such as my lower back and recommended other activities I could do in the spa

IMG_4202
Massage room

to carry on feeling relaxed.

Overall: My massage lasted for 50 wonderful minutes and was very relaxing, I left feeling very calm and less stressed. I do recommend this alternative massage as I am still feeling the benefits a few days after. Staff are very friendly and the massage room was clean however, I would have preferred a room with more colour or with mood lights, even though I do understand that the lights are off for the best part of it, so the brown bed sheets can perhaps be overlooked.

Facilities: Now for the good part- The facilities! All I can say is that I was not disappointed. After my massage which left me in a state of zen, I glided down the stars and through the doors of the Female Spa Changing rooms. Lockers were spacious and easy to work, and from a brief scan hairdryers, toilets and changing space was all up to scratch. With Grazia and ELLE ( magazines) in hand I headed out into the main Spa area.

The spa itself was not busy bearing in mind I attended on a Sunday, however you could easily tell that there would be enough room to still enjoy the experience. I started off in the Whirlpool to which I foolishly thought was a Hot tub until I saw the sign ‘This is not a Hot Tub’. Then ventured into the sauna, cold room (which allows you to cool down with snow), poolside thermal suite, the actual hot tub, steam room then cooled down with a refreshing rain forest shower. I am personally not much of a swimmer so did not go in to either the outside or inside pool but from observation was a good size and very clean. Instead I chose to retire on a waterbed for the remainder of my time building up to lunch.

Overall: Probably to date one of the best spas I have been to!

Food: I was intrigued to see what Champneys would serve me as when booking I was promised a nutritious and tasty meal- Boy were they right! For lunch, there was so much variety and had the choice of salads, vegetables, and a beef roast (after all it was Sunday) all served as a buffet. Champneys generously map out your plate with a section for all the nutritious goodies they were serving, however, I had already piled my plate up with juicy, mouthwatering beef and potato and a small but reasonable spoon of cranberry and beetroot couscous, I only saw this healthy guide after I finished my meal (oops).  For desert, I had a mango pudding and a helping of mixed fruits.

Dinner was amazing, the ambience had changed from everyone eating in their Champneys robes and flip-flops to a much more formal but friendly atmosphere to suit the a la carte  menu. Service was fast and the meals where once again very delicious.

Overall: My dining experience was fabulous! The food was delicious and catered for everyone with their extensive menu. My Lemon meringue dessert with coconut was definitely a highlight. Restaurant staff was very friendly, service was at a reasonable pace and I was not made to feel uncomfortable as a solo diner.  You do need to book dinner in advance which can be done at the reception.

The Room: Now for the main event, my overnight headquarters. After long awaiting the words “Your room is ready,” I was finally let into my room. I was in a standard room with a Garden view. On a beautiful day as it was, this was very well suited. The room itself was clean and laid out beautiful. It came equip with hairdyer, mirror, USB plugs, seating area and TV (great as love Island was airing at 9pm #priorities)  Bathroom was brilliant, complimentary champneys showergel etc, lovely overhead shower (spacious) and the usual towels etc.

Overall: This room was perfect for what I needed, there were extra robes, flip flops. towels and was an extremely comfortable stay.

Final judgement

If you haven’t already guessed, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Champneys Forest Mere. Although I did not get a chance to take advantage off all this resort had to offer such as the fitness classes, gym, cycling and boat hire, Champneys gave me exactly what I came for which was to leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Not only was the food a massive hit and definitely worth it, the spa experience was by far one of my favourites and can’t wait to plan my next trip.

Welcome

wanted to write this blog as I wanted to be more helpful, or return the favour as to how helpful blogs have been to me. No one told me being an ambitious lady in her 20’s would be this complicated! So I guess we can call it the blog of survival.

So, I have decided to write again as I am re-analysing when I was at my calmest. Not that I am not calm mind you, but lord! it gets crowded when you have so many thoughts and ideas in your head. What’s better then putting pen to paper or in more modern terms, finger to keyboard.
